I'm currently burning the image to a new set of DVDs (not using the GBW) and I'll find out in about 45mins if it works. Once I got that done the image taking process became a breeze.
Had to find the option set that let me use the default of PCDOS. *sigh* Anyways, what I found out was that trying to image using WinPE for pre-OS didn't work for me. It was kind of tricky and would have posted my problems but please look to my first sentence. I scraped the idea of putting the image using GBW and was surprisingly able to get a hold of the original machine that was imaged. Ok, here's what I did after a lot more research and talking to a few other people about GSS. Having account issues, but that's a side note. Thanks very much well in advance.įirstly, this is the original poster. And I did a search, couldn't find anything related to this. So I'm more than willing to listen to suggestions. They were gone before I arrived by a few months. There was absolutely no continuity between my predecessor and I. On top of all this I'm am completely new to Ghost. Am I going about this all wrong? If I can get my hands on the original T3400 I'll re-image it if need be and try to proceed from there with fresh boot cd and image burned dvds.

However, it's taking 4+ hrs to create the ISO file for me to burn. Now to alleviate that I've decided to use the boot wizard to add the image files to the boot package. Issues: I can create a boot CD that will recognize the optical drives, but when I place the DVDs with the images in the machine it doesn't recognize the files. We just upgraded from Ghost 8 to 11.5 on our main system, but the original images were taken with ghost 11. And if you must complain, please leave relevant information, so I can work on it.A few of our offices decided to buy a few hundred Dell T3400s with SAS HDDs and I'm having a bit of trouble imaging them. Still working on improvements, worked around 6 hours on this one.Īny comments are welcome. Don´t forget to close the session when burning an iso. I burned my iso with Nero, but I think any isoburning tool will do the job. I am sharing because there are probably more people like me, who want to make backups out of the box, and not from inside the box (if you know what I mean.) Link to my creation are spread all over the internet by now. If you don´t know what hfs or ntfs is, don´t even start testing Warning!: Only test it if you know what you are doing. The other reason I have, is that its fun to make something special. I want to make a perfect diskcopy including partitions, hfs+, ntfs, Fat32 etc etc The reason i made this, is that I don´t like programs like superduper and other clonesoftware packages.
Is this the Open Source Firmware/bios? You can use a usb stick to leave the backup on it

Make a backup of your 200mb partion that holds software/firmware for the mac (can anyone tell me more about this partition? My mac has it, but in OSX it does not show. Else my button will be broken in a few months because of all the testing Reboot without holding the button (not a big deal, but handy when playing/testing all the time). Sysinfo (show what hardware is in your mac), still buggy! Working on implementing another one.

In dos, you can eject the cd (because my macbook pro does not have a key, so without a reboot you can swap cd´s now) Start Ghost with usb and network support (the two above togeter) More info is in the readme.txt that comes with the iso This only works for intel mac´s with the same networkcard as my macbook pro 15inch. Start Symantec Ghost 11.0.1 with network support, so you can ghostcast to your windowsmachine. You can write to NTFS & FAT32 disks (not hfs+!) Start Symantec Ghost 11.0.1 with USB support (still slow, working on that), so you can make a backup to an external hdd including all your settings, files, partitions. Use the XMS/EMS memory in dos (that was not possible with the regular himem.sys/emm386)
